My opinion of About a Boy:
I think this book is good because the author shows us in a good and funny way in what kind of situation single mothers are. And on the other hand he tries to show us that you need a special person who helps you solving problems and whom you can tell anything. The way he tells the story is also very interesting, he changes the point of view every chapter, e.g. chapter one is from Will's point of view, chapter two from Marcus's point of view, and so on. The character development is also very interesting, because the author describes the feelings of the figures in a very detailed way, and this way you get to know how people change e.g. during splitting up.
