Amerikanische Sprachassistentin am Ulricianum!
Hello! I’m Amy Weigel, the resident Teaching Assistant in English at Gymnasium Ulricianum in Aurich. I was born on January 24, 1978 (which means I am 23-years-old) and am from Vadnais Heights, Minnesota (a suburb of St. Paul), where my parents still live (my younger brother is spending this year studying in Japan!). I graduated from Denison University (in Granville, Ohio) in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German, History, and Education. I also studied for a semester at Justus-Liebig Universität in Giessen.
In April, 2000, I received a letter which explained that I would be spending 10 months of my life in Aurich, Germany. Although I was at first a bit nervous that there was no train station in town, I have truely enjoyed learning about East Frisian culture and even the language! I look forward to the next six months!
Hallo! Ich bin Amy Weigel, die Fremdsprachenassistentin für Englisch am Gymnasium Ulricianum in Aurich. Ich bin am 24. Januar 1978 geboren (bin jetzt also 23 Jahre alt), und komme aus Vadnais Heights, Minnesota (ein Vorort von St. Paul), wo meine Eltern noch wohnen (mein Bruder studiert dieses Jahr in Japan!). Ich beendete mein Studium an der Denison University in Granville, Ohio im Mai 2000, wo ich Germanistik, Geschichte, und Pädagogik studierte. Ich studierte auch für ein Semester an der Justus-Liebig Universität in Giessen.
Im April 2000 bekam ich einen Brief, der sagte, dass ich für 10 Monate in Aurich wohnen werde. Obwohl ich ein bisschen nervös war , weil Aurich keinen Bahnhof hatte, sind meine Erfahrungen hier wirklich gut. Ich freue mich auf die nächsten sechs Monate!
In the 1840's, French settlers began to move north from St.Paul searching for new land to farm. One of these settlers was Jean Vadnais, who settled his family on the northeast edge of the large lake, now known as Vadnais Lake.
