I think the topic was very interesting and varying
because we never recorded anything before. It is a good supplement
to the work with blogs.
Furthermore, the topic "dystopia" was picked up again
and because of the central questions on the sheet it was easy to
understand the movie although we did not watch it.
But it was very difficult to understand the technical stuff (audacity)
and because we wanted to be ready until the given terminal date
our podcast was not that technical improved with background music
and special effects.
Nevertheless, podcasting was a good experience and I think we
could use it (especially in Seminarfach) more often.
Anke S.:
- it was interesting , at last something completely different
to the other lessonsJ
- complicated to deal with the technical things
-> only one person could deal with it
-we were just in the "Brave-New-World-thing", so it
was something `out-of-line`
-we had an interesting film, so it was also interesting to deal
with it
Evaluation of Podcast lessons by Annika:
It was a good idea to take movies fitting to the actual topic (which
all are really good ones) and making a Podcast is a new experience.
We had to deal creatively with our topic and not only with
scientific facts. The results were interesting, too. But anyway I
do not believe that podcasting can replace blogging because
writing texts is easier and better for collecting your thoughts
and ideas about a specific theme. You maybe are not able to
improve your language skills concerning talking when you're only
writing but in contrary it is the same with only speaking.
Podcasts take longer because you have to evaluate a concept (otherwise
it will definitely be very confusing) and have to speak whereas
you only have to think and express words when you write a text
about your topic. As a short insertion it was a good idea but I
wouldn't like to do it more often or enduring.
Birte:
Actually, I liked to work on the podcast topic because it was a
new experiences…
Something special was to grab our self made work…
It was fun to hear our voices and to create a podcast with our own
ideas and effects…
I guess that it was a good to learn in a different way… to speak
and to hear informations instead of writing but nevertheless, I
have to add that for me its more difficult to memorize
informations when I only hear the facts. Anyway everything was a
great experience, as well, to work with the program audicity…
Evaluation of PODCAST lessons by Daniel B.:
The lessons about podcasting were pretty interesting. By the
way, I finally was able to watch the movie 'Equilibrium' almost
completely.
It was an interesting experience to learn how podcasts are created
and I liked that I had a new task for Audacity, a program I like
to use for recording and experimenting.
Getting to know several dystopian ideas was cool. Future, dystopia,
science fiction and so on are topics I really like. Because of
this interest, I write short sci-fi stories.
I thing it could be possible for me to create another podcast by
time. Maybe it would match nicely into my sci-fi-blog. It's good
to have a lot of freedom while creating a podcast. You can be
creative and don't just have to record a boring read out work.
So, altogether, I liked the use of modern media and the freedom of
creativity.
Andreas: Feedback to working with the podcast
Working on a podcast was a very interesting thing for me
because I never made something like that (except for the working
diary that was much more work). I also liked the movie so it was
fun watching it and working on the tasks. The only thing that was
kind of difficult was getting the idea how to present the tasks
and writing the plot for it. All in all it was fun but
time-consuming.
Kristin B.: Feedback/ Evaluation of PODCAST
In my opinion, a very good idea. It differs much from normal
working tasks in class and if you found a good idea for realizing
it, it is fun to record it and find the right music or effects to
make it more impressive.
As I already said in class, it qould also be a good idea to make
something like a podcast blog and instead of writing articles
about the themes we work with, to make a podcast. What a pity that
it takes so long. Because if you want a good and presentable
podcast you can be proud of it takes a lot of time recording it
without mistakes etc.
Nevertheless, and if possible we should do it again with some
interesting new topics which we have to work on in future.
"Franzi": Feedback / Evaluation of PODCAST lesson
+
- good way to get to know dystopian literature/ fiction
- fun to learn how to work with audacity
- better than just reading more dystopian narratives
-
- takes a lot of time
- you can only give a few information about the whole movie
- creative ideas are hard to permute (umsetzen) /realize
- there may be technical difficulties
Kristin T.:
Personally I really enjoyed creating a podcast… our film/topic
was great, with loads of possibilities to create podcasts about
it. It was fun to think about a good, creative way of how to
transfer the message/impression you had about your topic,
developing a script and finally recording it. Having an audio, or
a podcast gives a more intense "success - feeling" as
simply having a text…
So, well…^^ I like it, good idea, not too difficult to
develop and to work at, great issues… we could do this again,
it's loads of fun. ;)
Merle:
For me podcasting was absolutely new and I even didn' know how
I have to imagine it. On balance, I think it was interesting to
use this different way of learning and working. But otherwise we
had a lot of problems to find a creative way of presenting our
tasks and I would have never had the ability to produce such a
podcast with the help of audacity on my own because I never before
used this program. Furthermore I think that this way of preparing
lesson and working is very time-consuming so that it's not
possible to use it that often during class.
Mi: Feedback: Podcast lessons
First of all I think it was really interesting to try out
something totally new. I've never worked with the medium movie and
audio that intensive before. In this case it was really suitable
to work with podcast because of the movies and the subject we are
dealing with at the moment. Furthermore I definitely agree with
those who think it was quiet time consuming and it also took a
while to find a creative way to present your work, but finally
everyone managed that. You are working on your task like you do in
normal lesson but than you have to deal with the creative part.
You have to find a way to put your results into an audio form- a
podcast. The most difficulty was the technical things (audacity).
On balance I think this is a good alternative opportunity to
create lessons and also to improve working in a group. With this
method the students are still able to deal with the movie and its
task intensively and at the same time creatively but still I
prefer the "normal" way. Mostly because it is less, lets
say, time consuming.
Feed-back | evaluation of PODCAST lessons (1984 by George
Orwell)
At first it was really difficult to understand what a Podcast
actually is but after a while we found out about that. Working
with the movie was quite fun but it was hard to use the adequate
keywords to describe the presented atmosphere of the film.
Although it took us truly a while to compose a script, we had a
lot of fun finding the appropriate music.
All in all we think that the work we had was worth it when we
heard the final result.

Paula: Feed- back / evaluation of PODCAST lessons
I think it was quite interesting to learn something about
podcasting in general, because I used to hear and read the word
"podcast" now and then never knowing what it actually
means.
Still it was a but difficult to work out the important information
and a suitable creative podcast script because it was the first
time we had to cope with such a task….
I was surprised that a lot of people knew much more about the
recording program than me and so I think it is a good opportunity
to learn to cope with such a new media.
As well I suppose podcasting can be used in the lessons more often,
seeing that it is creative, not that time consuming, supporting
group work and of cause interesting and funny for everyone to
listen to.
