Arrival at Bremen Airport
We are very excited to be here and though our German speaking isn't great, we try and you have been very kind
in helping us. Our job as exchange students is to go with our
host to all of his\her classes and try to understand what is
going on. Our hosts help a lot since most of us that came
have only had two or three years of German. Most Germans start
learning English at an early age, but in California you don't
start learning a language until you are in the 9th grade.
So please bear with us as we attempt to speak your language.

The Santee group with teacher Mr. Davey
We have spent a day in Bremen, which is kind of
like when the German students came and spent a day in L.A. We
quickly discovered that soccer is the big sport here and we all
enjoy watching the games in big groups and screaming at the
television.
A lot of us also went to Dini's, and that was a
new experience. We have parties in California, but they are
usually kept quiet because most parties involve beer and if you
are under 21 then its considered illegal. It is interesting to
see 16 and 17 year olds drinking beer in front of everyone, but
we are not complaining :-)
We just did the Wattwanderung and that was an
extremely messy trip. Some of the students had to wash their
clothes twice just to get the stink out. Everyone was falling
and tripping all over the place.
We are just thrilled to be here and after this
adventure I know that many of us would love to make a return
trip. Germany is an exciting new place for us and we find the
history very exciting. You won't find any castles in California.
I think that castles, or old cathedrals add to the natural
beauty of Germany.
Dankeschön :)
