"We didn't meet any snakes"

Now that we've been in Santee for one week already, we write a report for you guys back home.
Time goes by way too fast over here, we only have 1 ½ weeks left in Santee be-fore we'll go to San Francisco to spend some more days there.

In the first few days, everybody was pretty tired. This was mainly because of the jetlag and the exhausting trip which began Sunday at 2 am and lasted for about 28 hours.
The tiredness was the reason why we didn't go on any trips in the first days. Everybody spent time with their host families and friends from Germany. Some people went to the beach, the shopping mall, or spent time watching sports ac-tivities like cheerleading, football, or color guard.
Our first trip was to Mission Trails Park. It was pretty interesting to see the South Californian landscape. Fortunately for some members of our group, we didn't meet any snakes.
This weekend, we went to the desert (Anza Borrego Desert State Park) and had the world-famous apple pie in Julian (which is about 1400 m above sea level). On Sunday, we spent time with our host families. Some of us went to Los Ange-les, Mexico, or to the beach.
Altogether, we're having an awesome time in California. The weather is great for our trips ;-))
See you after spring break!
PS: We just had to do presentations on our school and the Wattenmeer. Now we'll go outside and relax in the sun

Parallel nutzte Herr Risius die Zeit, sich mit der Schulleiterin unserer Partnerschule in Vista, Penny Young Harrison...

...und mit dem Schulleiter unserer Partnerschule in Santee, Brian Wilbur, zu treffen.
