Travel agencies & detailed information about cruiseliners built on the Meyerwerft, Papenburg

Travel agencies basically arrange cruises for their customers. They are directly in contact with the cruiselines which own the ships. For example on the Meyerwerft's website cruiselines which own ships that were built in Papenburg are linked. Examples of those cruiselines are:

  • www.royalcaribbean.com A global agency financed by shareholders that offers quite luxurious and expensive cruises and owns some of the biggest cruiseliners in the world such as the "Voyager of the seas" which was built on the Meyerwerft
  • www.hollandamerica.com  The Holland-America Line, an American cruise line which allows the customer to easily find the cruise he's looking for. Also information on any aspect of cruises is added.

If you're planning to book a cruise and you do not yet have enough information, then you might go to a nearby travel agency. Just any travel agency will be able to help you.

We have picked one example  about which we'll present detailed information.

ms Westerdammagnificent Vista Class, HollandAmerica

"The ms Westerdam was originally built in 1986 (by the Merwerft) as the mv Homeric, with a capacity of 1,000 passengers. After Holland America purchased the ship in 1988, it was renamed, expanded to a capacity of 1,494 guests and redesigned. Highlights of the expansion project were the creation of a state-of-the-art, 800-seat two-deck show lounge – the Admiral’s Lounge, the Explorer’s Lounge, Ocean Bar, Book Chest library Card Room and Halve Maen meeting room. A $2 million collection of 17th and 18th century art and antiques, themed to Dutch worldwide exploration, enhances the ship’s decor. "| Source |

The Vista-Class ms Westerdam joins the Holland America Line fleet in spring 2004. In addition, Westerdam has more of what guests desire: More staterooms with private verandahs.
