Global knots

What has Aurich got to do with Papenburg and the ships built on the Meyerwerft? And what has a mechanic from the Philippines or an Australian sheep-farmer got to do with somebody working in Aurich at the Elektrotechnische Werke Janssen?

Where do cruise liners sail, how much is a holiday cruise, what is offered on bord, how luxurious are they?

What have towns like Papenburg/Emsland and Fremantle/Australia in common? And how are 125,000 sheep from the Australian Outback shipped to Arabic destinations, alive to be slaughtered there according to Islamic rules.

Where is the connection to the East Frisian ship-company Frisia and their pride, the catamaran "Cat I",  sailing for example from Emden to Borkum or Helegoland?

There are many links in the long chain of global knots - and Aurich with the Elektrotechnische Werke Janssen is just one of them, Papenburg's Meyerwerft another one, and so is an Australian roadtrain trucking sheep to Fremantle. Call it globalization -
