Hello, my name is
Charles Walker, but everyone calls me Trout because my feet smell like a couple
of dead fish. It is not my fault, I have an incurable foot fungus. I was the son
of the richest man in town, because most of the peach- trees and all the land on
the east- side of the lake belonged to my family.

We lost it all, when it stopped
raining. All that happened because of the onion- picker Sam. He was black
and kissed my big love, the schoolteacher Katherine
Barlow. Black
people weren't allowed to kiss white people. After we had
burnt down the schoolhouse, we shot him. Since then not one
drop of rain has fallen on Green Lake. After Sam's death, Katherine shot
the Sherriff, ran away, became an outlaw and robbed all the money
from the banks.
Twenty years later Kate returned to Green Lake
and my wife Linda Miller and me saw the chance to get the treasure,
which Katherine had buried in the desert. But when we ordered her to give
us the treasure, she was bitten by a lizard and died laughing. Since
that day, me and my descendents have been searching for it.
