This is the story of Stanley the I. told from his
perspective. It's the story how he found
"God's Thumb"
My name is Stanley Yelnats. I lived in New York
for a long time. One day I started trading shares
at the stock market. After a few years I had made
a lot of money. I decided to move from New York
to California. The trip to my new home went
straight through the desert. I had bought a
stagecoach because I had to take my whole things
with me. The sun burnt down very hot. Luckily I
had taken enough water with me.
It was the fifth day on the journey when the
horses suddenly stopped. A woman with a
black cowboy hat and a gun stood in front of me
and shouted: "Hands up! Otherwise I'm going
to kill you!" Everything happened so fast.
She pushed me out of the coach and escaped with
it. She robbed all my things and my entire
fortune. I stayed behind, stranded in the middle
of the desert. After three days I was so thirsty that I
almost got crazy. ................................................................
