.....................................
This is a
short story about Madame Zeroni and Elya,
Stanley's great great - grandfather
Elya was Stanley's great - great - grandfather.
When he was a young boy, he loved Myra very much.
She was a farmer's girl. There was another man
who loved her, too. He was called Igor and was
very old. He promised her father to give him his
fattest pig, if he was allowed to marry Myra.
Elya knew that he has no chance, so he went to Madame Zeroni an old gipsy woman. She
gave him a little pig. She told him to carry it
onto a special mountain and let it drink from a
special stream and to sing a song every day. On
the day when Myra should decide whom to marry, he
had to carry it on the mountain again, and then
he would be able to marry her. And after he had
married, he had to carry Madame Zeroni up the
hill and let her drink out of the stream and sing
the song to her. But on the last day Elya took a
shower and so the two pigs weighed the same.
Elya ran away and Myra decided to marry Igor. So
Elya emigrated to America.
